Range Rules
All Ranges
- All targets must be hung inside the designated areas on the backstops. Do not
place targets on or in front of the backstop supports.
- Except as follows, the only targets permitted on any rifle or pistol range are paper
targets located in the designated areas of the target mounting boards. No other
target materials are permitted including but not limited to, clay birds, pop cans, and
bowling pins. The only exception is silhouette targets, which must be located within
2’-0” of the front of the target boards and within the designated target areas on
these boards. Targets may not be at ground level or set on top of the target
mounting boards. Move your firing line back from the targets as appropriate. The
only ammunition permitted for silhouette shooting is .22 caliber rimfire or pellets.
- No glass of any kind will be permitted on any range.
- Clean up the range before leaving – remove targets, brass, etc.
- If people are waiting to use a range, limit your shooting time to 1 hour.
Indoor Range
- Shooters must use .22 caliber rimfire ammunition or pellets only.
- Use paper targets only – no bottles, cans, etc.
- All shooting must be confined to the backstop.
- Turn off heat and lights before leaving.
Outdoor Ranges
- No shooting after sunset.
- No shooting on Sundays before 12:00 noon.
- No vehicles in front of the firing point.
Trap Range
- The traps will be open and operated only during a scheduled shoot.
- The trap shooting floodlights will be turned on only during a scheduled shoot or
when a club officer is present.
- The puller is the range officer. As such, he is responsible for running a safe range
and for enforcing the A.T.A. rules.
Safety Enforcement
- Safety must be the number one concern at all times. All published range rules must
be strictly adhered to. No one leaves the firing line until guns are down and bolts
are open. All rounds must be shot into the existing butts at all times. Use
ammunition appropriate to the shooting. Respect other shooters and our
neighbors.
- Since the club does not have a full time range officer, each club member must be
responsible for the enforcement of safety.
- Any member that discovers someone violating these rules has the obligation to turn
that person’s name, along with an explanation of what happened, over to a club
officer or board member.
- When a person’s name is turned in, that person is required to appear before the
board at the next club meeting.
- With a majority consenting vote, the board and officers have the authority to
suspend that person’s membership.
