
MEMBERSHIP
- To become a new member, a person must be at least 21 years of age and
sponsored by two club members in good standing.
- At least one sponsor must accompany the prospective member to a board meeting.
- A majority vote by the board is required for the person to be accepted for
membership into the New Pittsburg Sportsmen’s Club.
- A new member is on probation for one year, during which time he or she may not
act as a sponsor.
- Members are permitted to bring guests to the club to use the facilities, not to
exceed two visits by the same guest per year.
BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
- Members and their immediate families are eligible to use the club facilities.
However, anyone under the age of 21 must be accompanied by a parent at all
times.
- Parties and other social events must be approved by the board.
- Members wishing to use the grounds for any event, including but not limited to,
Concealed Carry classes, must first come before the Board of Directors to get
permission for the use of the grounds for each date. Anyone using the grounds for
such events without the Board's permission will have their membership immediately
and permanently terminated. The Board has the right to refuse any member use of
the grounds for any event.
- Members must carry their membership card when using the club facilities. If proof
of membership cannot be made, a person may be asked to leave by a card
carrying member.
- No alcoholic beverages will be consumed on the club grounds. This is absolute!
No exceptions, ever.
- No over-night camping on club grounds.
- No open fires on club grounds.
SAFETY ENFORCEMENT
- Each member must be responsible for safety enforcement.
- Any member who discovers someone violating the rules or regulations has the
obligation to turn in that person’s name, with an explanation of what happened,
over to a club officer or board member.
- When a person’s name is turned in, that person is required to appear before the
board at the next board meeting.
- With a majority consenting vote, the club has the authority to suspend that person’s
membership.
ALL RANGES
- All published range rules must be strictly adhered to.
- Safety must be the number one concern at all times.
- NRA Rules of Safety are the most important. 1) Always keep your gun
pointed in a safe direction, 2) Always keep your gun unloaded until you are
ready to shoot, and 3) Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are
ready to shoot.
- At least one shooter must act as Range Officer when multiple shooters are using
the range.
- Range Officer should state range commands clearly and concisely as follows:
“THE RANGE IS OPEN”.......shooters may load and fire
“THE RANGE IS CLOSED"..all guns are unloaded and on the tables or in gun racks
“CEASEFIRE"......................all shooters must stop shooting immediately and wait
for further instructions from Range Officer
- While the range is closed, no handling of guns will be permitted FOR ANY REASON.
- Shooters under the age of 21 must be directly supervised by a member age 21 or
over at all times.
- No full-automatic weapons allowed.
- No smoking while handling black powder.
- No glass, cans, bowling pins or exploding targets of any kind will be permitted on
any range.
- All targets which are hung on the backstops must be inside the designated areas.
Do not place targets on or in front of the backstop supports.
- Prior to leaving any range, all targets must be removed, brass picked up, and all
guns must be unloaded and actions open.
- If people are waiting to use a range, limit your shooting time to 1 hour.
- It is every member's responsibility to repair/replace backboards when needed -
supplies are in the Quonset hut.
INDOOR RANGE
- Rifle and pistol shooters must use .22 cal. rimfire ammunition or pellets fired from
air guns only.
- Use paper targets only.
- All shooting must be confined to the backstop inside the designated area.
- Archery targets are for archery shooting only. Do not shoot archery targets with
firearms.
- Turn off heat and lights and close all doors before leaving.
OUTDOOR RANGE
- No shooting on Sunday until 12:00 noon.
- No shooting after sunset
- No vehicles are allowed in front of the firing line.
- When the range has been closed, the orange traffic cones must be placed in front
of the firing line.
- The firing line is common to all ranges; 10 yard - 25 yard - 50 yard - 100 yard - 200
yard. If pistol shooters are to fire at closer range (in front of the common firing
line), the common firing line must be closed (all other guns must be unloaded,
actions open, and placed on tables, gun racks, or holstered).
- Whenever working down range, the 'Range Closed' sign must be posted in clear
view near the entrance to the range.
- No shooting shotguns closer than 25 yards to the backstops.
- Targets permitted are limited to:
- Paper targets located in the designated areas of the target mounting boards.
- Silhouette and/or swinger/spinner type targets located within 2 feet of the
front of the target boards and within the designated target areas on these
boards. Targets may not be at ground level or set on top of the target
mounting boards. Move your firing line back from the targets as
appropriate. The only ammunition permitted for silhouette and/or
swinger/spinner shooting is .22 rimfire or pellets fired from air guns.
- Hanging gong at 200 yard range only
- Water jugs hung from the cable at 200 yard range only.
TRAP RANGE
- No shooting on Sunday until 12:00 noon.
- The trap houses will be open and operated only during a scheduled shoot.
- The trap shooting flood lights will be turned on only during a scheduled shoot or
when a club officer or board member is present.
- The Range Officer is responsible for running a safe range and enforcing A. T. A.
rules.
